Community Guidelines

Federal Limits Community is a space for state-level civic organizing around due-process protections. These guidelines keep the space productive and safe.

1. Due-process framing.
We discuss policy, not politics. Use neutral, due-process language. Avoid partisan framing, party names, and politician names.

2. Action-oriented.
Posts work best when they point toward a next step. “This happened” becomes “this happened – here’s what we can do.” Not ready to act? Post in Ask & Strategize to get help planning.

3. State focus.
The lever is the statehouse, not Washington. Federal complaints get redirected: “What can your STATE legislature do about this?”

4. Protect each other.
No doxxing. No personal information beyond publicly available contact info for elected officials. Members in hostile states may be at risk. Anonymous posting is available.

5. No legal advice.
Sharing legal information (“the law says X”) is welcome. Giving legal advice (“you should do X in your case”) is not. For legal counsel, check the Resource Directory at federallimits.org/resources.

6. Language rules.
Same as federallimits.org:

  • Do not use: “sanctuary,” “Biden,” “Trump,” “constitutional”
  • Use: “due-process,” “protections,” “safeguards,” “limits”
  • Use “federal civil enforcement” in formal contexts

7. Good faith.
Assume good faith. Disagree with arguments, not people. Flag, don’t fight.

Moderation:
Posts that don’t fit a category may be moved with a friendly note. Repeated violations of community norms result in temporary or permanent suspension. Community flags help – if you see a problem, flag it.
